ALBANY, N.Y. – A 23-year-old Ravena man pleaded guilty to a rape and weapons charge in Albany County Court Thursday.
Asten Aldous pleaded guilty to one count of Rape in the Second Degree and one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree.
District Attorney David Soares said Coeymans police received a call from an adult female on May 17 that she witnessed Aldous raping a 13-year-old girl. When officers arrived to arrest Aldous, he was brandishing two knives at officers.
Police had to use a taser to stun Aldous, according to Soares. Police then took him into custody.
Aldous faces seven years in state prison for a conviction of Rape and two and one-third to seven years in state prison for his conviction on the weapons charge. This will be followed by ten years of post-release supervision.
Soares said the convictions will be served consecutively for a total of nine and one-third to 16 and one-third years in state prison.
Aldous remains in custody at the Albany County Correctional Facility without bail to await sentencing. He must also register as a sex offender when he is released from custody.
