TROY, N.Y.—Middle school students at Knickerbacker Middle School showed off their gardening skills Wednesday.
The students showed off their recent gardening project at a ribbon cutting ceremony.
The project was designed by teachers to help with the school’s ELA, math, and science curriculum.
The project started two years ago, and grew thanks to grants and donations from the community.
Teachers and the school superintendent joined students outside Wednesday to celebrate the student’s hard work, which many of them thought was a lot of fun.
"I liked going outside and helping make a world change and making a green planet,” said sixth grade student Abby.
Another goal of the garden is to teach kids about the importance of nutritious food.
