Ghent man arrested after domestic dispute


GHENT, N.Y.—A Ghent man was arrested Wednesday after an investigation into a report of a physical domestic dispute.

Bruce Westfall, 56, was arrested after a domestic dispute took place at his residence.

According to police, a female victim reported that Westfall had physically assaulted her by choking her to a point that she nearly lost consciousness.

Further investigation revealed that Westfall and the victim had an argument the night prior which resulted in it becoming physical.

Westfall was charged with one count of Strangulation and one count of Unlawful Imprisonment. He was sent to the Columbia County jail in lieu of $2,500 cash or $5,000 bond.

He is scheduled to return to Ghent court on July 7, 2014.
