TROY, N.Y. – The defense will help the ValleyCats extend their one-game lead over Vermont Tuesday.
During their seven wins, Tri-City averaged less than an error per game, including four perfect fielding performances compared to an average of three errors in the other four.
Manager Ed Romero said he expected the inconsistency early on. He said last year’s championship team relied on pitching and defense, and he hopes to have the same kind of club this year.
The ValleyCats have a 7-4 record so far this season.
