Mother, son, accused of arson at their Schenectady home

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. - Three people have been arrested and accused of arson on May 15 at a home.

According to Schenectady Police, Sardawatie Beedasee, 42, Romal Ramgadoo, 21, and a teenager have been arrested for the fire at 66/68 Linden Street.

Beedasee, the homeowner of the Linden property, allegedly instructed her son, Ramgadoo to hire someone to set the fire in order to collect insurance money.  

Ramgadoo is accused of hiring a 14-year-old to set fire to the property, which was vacant at the time. The teenager's identity will not be released.

Beedasee and Ramgadoo have been charged with arson in the third, a felony. Both were held overnight and will be arraigned Monday morning in city court. The juvenile will be petitioned to Family Court at a later date.
