SOUTH GLENS FALLS, N.Y. - A fundraiser to benefit the boys injured in a bounce house accident was held Sunday.
Mr. Bill's Car Hop had live music and games for the public to take part in which began Sunday at 11 a.m.
From the event, 100-percent of the proceeds and 50-percent of food sales are going to the families affected by the accident. Proceeds will help aid the families in providing medicine the boys need to recover.
On May 12, two boys were injured after the bounce house they were inside was yanked off the ground by a gust of wind. The kindergartners fell from the toy when it reached about 15 to 20 feet in the air. They suffered serious injuries and had to be taken to Albany Medical Center.
The father of one of the boys, John DeLuca, volunteered to be dunked during the carnival theme benefit.
So many people were getting into the spirit to have fun, and help the families, that even NEWS10 ABC photojournalist Michael Johnson took a pie to the face to support the boys.
The family says they have had a lot of support come from the South Glens Falls School District and they say they are proud to be Bulldogs.
One girl was also in the bounce house but fell out quickly. She suffered minor scrapes and bruises.
Since the accident, both boys have been released from the hospital.
Gratitude was expressed by the families of the victims for the community coming together time and time again after the frightful accident.
All of the fundraisers held by the community in June raised more than $9,000. The funds are split evenly between the families.
If people would still like to donate, they can send in their donations to Harrison Ave. Elementary School, 76 Harrison Ave, Moreau, NY 12803. Checks should be made payable to Harrison Ave HSA.
