Alleged Army Deserter found in Stillwater

STILLWATER, N.Y. - The Stillwater Police Department has announced the arrest of a 22-year-old fugitive from justice.

Police say they received information of a possible fugitive living in the Stillwater area. Police were able to confirm the identity of Jeremy McCoy and they also confirmed that he was wanted by the U.S. Armed Forces for allegedly being an Army Deserter.

An investigation also gave police the identity of McCoy's vehicle. Authorities were able to locate the vehicle, driven by McCoy, on Hudson Avenue.

During a vehicle stop, McCoy was taken into custody without incident. He was processed and taken to the Albany County Jail where he is being held without bail pending extradition by the U.S. Army. He was also charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle when it was determined that his license was suspended.

McCoy is formerly of Olean, New York.
