Ulster Co. man arrested, accused of injuring child

ULSTER COUNTY, N.Y. – A 21-year-old Ellenville man has been arrested after allegedly causing a child’s skull fracture, among other injuries.

Thierry Owens faces two counts of felony reckless assault of a child, and one count of misdemeanor endangering the welfare of a child.

He was arrested after authorities say an investigation revealed that, during more than one occasion, while at his residence located in the Village of Ellenville, he recklessly assaulted an infant, ultimately causing a skull fracture and other injuries.

The child was initially brought the Ellenville Regional Hospital for treatment of these injuries and subsequently transported to the Albany Medical Center Pediatric Care Unit.

This case has been referred to the Ulster County District Attorney’s Office, Special Victims Bureau. The investigation is ongoing.

Owens was remanded to the Ulster County Jail after arraignment in the Court on $25,000 cash bail or $50,000 secured bond.
