BENNINGTON, Vt., - The Vermont Attorney General has cleared a Bennington Police Officer in his use of deadly force.
The Attorney General says Sgt. Michael Plusch had reason to believe his life was in danger when he shot 42-year-old Gregory Filo in the lobby of the Bennington Police Station.
Authorities say Filo walked into the police station holding a knife, and demanded to talk to Sgt. Plusch. They say Filo refused to drop the knife when officers demanded he do so, and that's when Plusch shot Filo once in the abdomen.
The incident was investigated by Vermont State Police and it was reviewed by the Attorney General's Office.
