Salvation Army donations piled up, soaked from rain

QUEENSBURY, N.Y. – Sometimes, there can be too much of a good thing.

The Queensbury Salvation Army store has been flooded with donations. Clothes, furniture, and other items, have been left outside of donation boxes without anyone picking up the items for days.

Due to recent wet weather in the region, some donations have been completely soaked from the rain. But the thrift shop says they tried their best to avoid the problem.

“Well-intentioned people left donations out in the parking lot not realizing that we were ill-prepared to pick up that much stuff in that short of time," said Salvation Army Captain Don Sanderson.

Salvation Army also says miscommunication played a huge role in this mess.

Sanderson said if you ever see a pile of donations start to form, you can call him, and they will arrange for a special pick up. The number is 1-800-SATRUCK.
