TROY, N.Y. -- The man charged with murdering a Troy woman last week was arraigned in Rensselaer County Court on Tuesday.
Police arrested 28-year old Alexis Torres last week and charged him with second degree murder, saying he killed 33-year old Amber Fernald in the early morning hours of June 10 inside an apartment while her children were nearby.
Torres himself was seriously injured.
He was arraigned on a second-degree murder charge and of felony violation of probation. He pleaded not guilty, and was sent to the Rensselaer County Jail without bail.
