Parents to urge for the end of Common Core Standards on Lobby Day
ALBANY, N.Y. - Parents plan to head to the State Capitol for Lobby Day, hoping to convince lawmakers to withdraw from the controversial Common Core Learning Standards.
A nationally renowned Common Core expert will be addressing the parents on Tuesday morning at the Legislative Office Building.
Other lawmakers who want to see the end of the Common Core will also be speaking, some of whom have already backed legislation to halt the implementation of the learning standards.
Instead, the lawmakers want to create what's called a "Multi-Disciplinary Blue-Ribbon Panel," that would evaluate the standards, determining how appropriate they are for schools here in The Empire State.
