ALBANY, N.Y. - Legislation in New York is aiming to help military members and their families with education opportunities.
Governor Cuomo announced the agreement with legislative leaders on Saturday.
One of the key points is making it more affordable for veterans to receive a higher education. It also allows service members to transfer professional licenses earned from one state to another.
Military families would also receive more assistance with burial costs, to honor service members who died for their country.
"In New York, our goal is not just to remember and honor veterans one day a year, but truly every day. To honor them not only in our words, but more importantly in our actions," said Cuomo.
Cuomo applauded senate and assembly leaders for agreeing on the bill.
