Search continues for missing woman in Malta creek

MALTA, N.Y. - The search for a missing woman who was rafting on Kayaderosseras Creek resumed on Saturday morning.

Police were searching for a woman who went missing in Kayaderosseras Creek Friday night. However, the search was called off after about three hours due to water and weather conditions.

The Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office say they were notified of a reported overturned raft around 7:40 p.m. Friday. It was reported that a family of five had been rafting on the Kayaderosseras Creek when they missed their exit point due to fast moving water.

Police said an adult male and three children were able to get out of the water, but a 53-year-old woman did not make it to shore.

Police said they later received a report of a body floating face down in the creek by the Ralph Street Bridge. The sheriff’s office along with the Malta Ridge, Ballston Spa and Arvin Hart Fire Departments launched a search and rescue mission including patrols on all bridges and a search of the creek by airboat with negative results.

The search was called off around 10:30 p.m.

Names and relationships involved in this incident are not being released by police.
