ALBANY, N.Y. - Fire chiefs from across New York State are pushing to make homes safer.
The New York State Association of Fire Chiefs are having a demonstration on Wednesday to show how effective residential sprinkler systems are when it comes to saving lives and reducing damage.
They will set up two rooms, one with a sprinkler system, and one without. The fire officials will then set the rooms on fire to show how sprinklers, as small as they are, can make a big difference.
The fire chiefs want the state to adopt a code that would require the installment of residential sprinkler systems in all newly constructed one and two family homes.
