BALLSTON SPA, N.Y. – Two individuals accused of stealing flowers from a grave site on Mother’s Day have entered a guilty plea in court.

Ballston Spa Police were alerted to the theft when a man witnessed two people take flowers from his wife’s grave. He told police that he had placed the flowers on the grave for Mother’s Day only a few hours prior to the incident.

Travis Lapell, 32, and Taiya Armer, 41, pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct in Ballston Spa Village Court Monday.

The Saratoga County District Attorney Jim Murphy said the duo will have to pay restitution for the flowers that were stolen, as well as complete 20 hours of community service at a cemetery – but not the one they stole from.
