Middlesex, Vt.—The Vermont State Police are now investigating a death that took place at the Wrightsville Dam in Middlesex.
On Saturday, June 7, Vermont State Police received a call regarding a possible drowning incident and responded immediately.
Jason Reed, 42, of Montpelier, was transported to Central Vermont Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
Detectives learned that Reed was on an outing with family and friends and the party had used canoes to paddle up the river to the waterfall at the base of the dam.
Reed was subsequently pulled under the water as a result of a strong current. Members of the party were able to pull him out of the water and perform CPR until the ambulance arrived.
The investigation is on-going. There are no signs of foul play and police said the death does not appear suspicious.
