Schenectady City Council votes to approve casino proposal

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – The Schenectady City Council passed a resolution Monday to support a multi-million dollar casino project in the city.

The vote comes after the Galesi Group and Rush Street Gaming unveiled its plan to the city a few weeks ago. The Board of Directors from the County Chamber of Commerce unanimously passed a resolution to support the rivers casino and resort at Mohawk Harbor.

Local lawmakers said a casino in Schenectady could decrease property taxes by 18 percent.

The Rivers Casino and Resort at Mohawk Harbor, would include a 50-boat slip and dock, a casino, a 250 room hotel, and a movie and television studio.
