Driver dead after one vehicle accident on Northway, passenger injured
MALTA, N.Y. – New York State Police are investigation a one vehicle fatal motor vehicle accident that happened over the weekend.
According to authorities, on Sunday at 3 a.m., authorities responded to the crash near Exit 11 on I-87.
The vehicle involved had veered sharply to the right from the center southbound lane, causing it to skid out of control and travel off the right shoulder. The vehicle then crashed into a guardrail, became airborne, and eventually overturned several times before coming to a rest.
There were two people inside the vehicle. Police say neither of them were wearing a seat-belt at the time of the accident.
The driver, Alexandra Parry, 22, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.
Parry’s passenger, Jacob Lapan, 23, was not ejected and suffered a laceration to the head and concussion. He was taken to Albany Medical Center where he is listed under stable condition.
The accident is still under investigation, according to State Police.
