SLINGERLANDS, N.Y. -- One local cat is lucky to be alive after a runner heard its cries.
Matthew Guidarelli was on a run Tuesday night, and while h was crossing a footbridge he heard crying.
He then saw a cat carrier with an animal inside going down in the water.
Risking his own safety, Guidarelli jumped into Normans Kill. When he reached the carrier on the other side, he says he was amazed by how heavy it was.
He said inside he found a cat -- and a large rock.
He says an Albany police officer told him it was unlikely they could find the person responsible.
The carrier does bear a neon pink sticker that might help identify the cats past owner and possibly help lead to answers.
