Mechanic injured during Utralight crash at Saratoga County Airport

MALTA, N.Y. – A mechanic was injured during a crash at Saratoga County Airport Thursday.

Officials say Kevin Purstell, a mechanic for North American Flight Services, was conducting the one-year required FAA inspection of an Ultralight. While he was conducting an Engine Run Up, he lost control of the aircraft on the tarmac.

Authorities say the aircraft entered a hanger and struck a Cessna 182 P, causing wing damage and then struck a Cessna 337 Super Skymaster, causing massive damage.

Purstell was then ejected from the Ultralight . He was transported to Saratoga Hospital and later moved to Albany Medical Center.

The interior of the hanger also sustained minor damage.

The FAA will conduct an investigation of the incident.
