Man accused in Mohawk Commons scare in court

NISKAYUNA, N.Y. – The Schenectady man accused of placing a suspicious package at Mohawk Commons appeared in court Wednesday.

A judge ordered 21-year-old Joshua Usher to undergo a mental evaluation.

Usher allegedly placed a suspicious package in the area between Target and Famous Footwear Tuesday. Witnesses said they saw Usher place the package and walk away.

Several stores were evacuated as the bomb squad was called to the scene. The package was not dangerous.

Usher was arrested and charged with Disorderly Conduct and Placing a False Bomb or Hazardous Substance. His family said Usher suffers from psychological issues.
