BELMONT, N.Y. – The Belmont Stakes will take place in three days.
It’s been two and a half weeks since the Preakness Stakes, and there are only three days until potentially breaking a 36-year drought in horse racing.
The Belmont Stakes draw was held Wednesday morning, and Triple Crown hopeful California Chrome will break from post two with a morning line of 3 to 5.
The three-year-old’s connections acknowledged that the position is not ideal, but in a mile and a half race with 11 horses in the field, they’re not too worried about getting stuck behind a wall.
The Kentucky Derby and Preakness winner will be challenged by fresher horses, including Wicked Strong who finished fourth in the Derby. He drew the number nine post and is 6 to 1 second choice.
The scheduled post time for the Belmont Stakes is 6:52 p.m. Saturday.
