SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The Saratoga Springs Police Department participated for two weeks in the national “Click It or Ticket” campaign.
The campaign is headed by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and is aimed at increasing the use of seat belts among people in the U.S. Click It or Ticket relies heavily on targeted advertising in conjunction with increased enforcement.
Saratoga Springs police conducted a seat belt compliance checkpoint for two weeks between May 19 and June 1.
On May 28, Saratoga Springs police partnered with the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office and the Canadian Pacific Railway Police to conduct a checkpoint on Route 50 near SPAC. The checkpoint yielded a total of 46 Uniform Traffic Tickets, including citations for seat belt violations, aggravated unlicensed operators and one operating without an interlock device.
Overall, the enforcement yielded 78 Uniform Traffic Tickets, including seat belt violations and four arrests for Aggravated Unlicensed Operation.
