Police investigating homicide of North Adams man

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. – Police are investigating the death of a North Adams man whose body was found in New York City.

Authorities initially said Joshua Bressette went missing in May. His body was found three days later by the New York Police Department.

NYPD said Bressette had been shot three times on the roof of a Bronx housing project. Officers said the 25-year-old had heroin on him.

Police are unsure how Bressette got to the Bronx. He was last seen at a parking lot in North Adams on May 5.

His grandmother, Cecilia Bressette, admitted Bressette had a drug problem in the past, but she said he was working to turn his life around.

“I didn’t give up hope. I said until they find a body I don’t give up hope,” she said. “And the worst thing in the world to ever happen was when they said they found him dead.”

NYPD said they are working with Massachusetts authorities to find Bressette’s killer. Bressette was one of five North Adams residents arrested in February as part of a drug bust.
