ALBANY, N.Y. - The New York State Department of Health will be teaming up with a British Pharmaceutical Company to develop a medical marijuana trial.
Governor Cuomo announced on Tuesday that there was an agreement between New York State and GW Pharmaceuticals to develop clinical trials using the active ingredient from the marijuana plant. The drug is meant to help treat children with rare forms of epilepsy that are resistant to traditional medication.
The DOH will take the lead in developing the clinical trial for submission to the FDA. GW Pharmaceuticals will provide consultative advice and commit personnel and other resources to the partnership.
