Convicted felon found guilty after jury trial

JOHNSTOWN, N.Y. – A Gloversville man has been found guilty of selling cocaine after a jury trial.

According to Fulton County District Attorney Louise Sira, a jury of six men and six women found Anthony Smith guilty. Smith, 31, who is also known by the name of “Smurf”, is guilty of criminal sale of a controlled substance in the third degree and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree.

Smith sold the drug to a confidential informant in November 2013. City police identified Smith as the seller at the time of the incident. He was on parole for a previous conviction when he sold the drug.  

Smith, a second felony offender with a prior violent felony conviction, faces a sentence between six and 15 years in state prison. 

He will be sentenced on July 17.
