TROY, N.Y. -- Troy Police Captain John Cooney said good bye to his department during his last day on the job Friday.
Cooney attended La Salle Institute, served in the air force, and returned to serve his hometown.
He excelled as a detective, becoming well known for having a warm approach that helped him secure confessions.
Most people know him now as the face of the Troy Police Department. He says he is proud of his department, and the job he did as captain.
Cooney has served the city of Troy for 31 years.
