SCHENECTADY, N.Y. -- Police in Schenectady have detained three people following a report of shots fired.
Authorities said they were called to the 1600 block of Carrie Street just before noon Friday after a neighbor said they heard gunshots. Once there, officers said they recovered a handgun left in the driveway of 1604 Carrie St.
During the course of their investigation, they learned it may have been connected to the residents that live at a home on Van Vranken Avenue. When they searched that home, they found a marijuana grow operation.
"Members of our special investigations unit were noticed of the grow operation. They'll be going in to conduct a search for that, seize that evidence as well as based off the investigation and the interviews that are being conducted as we speak will lead to what else we have to do inside the house,” Lt. Mark McCracken of Schenectady PD said.
Police said they've detained two men and a woman in connection to the discovery. One man was detained in the street near 612 Hattie St. The other male and female were detained at 1643 Van Vranken Ave. where the grow operation was found on the second and third floors.
No one has been charged, yet.
The shooting scene was processed by the detectives of the Crime Scene Investigations unit. The three people detained are being interviewed by members of the Detective Division.
Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Detective Division at 382-5245.
