TROY, N.Y. - The Troy City Council met Wednesday for more discussions on the controversial demolitions carried out in the city.
The former city engineer says public safety was compromised when four buildings on King Street were torn down. Also, work was stopped at the Old King Fuels site over possible asbestos contamination.
The city council has been hearing testimony on the issue, including oversight and direction of the code department. Meanwhile, Troy Mayor Lou Rosamilia has called it a witch hunt, and vetoed an ordinance that would force subpoenas.
Wednesday was the third special hearing in which the council subpoenaed witnesses to testify. The city’s former mayor was among the witnesses.
Former City Engineer Russ Reeves resigned from his position in April 2014. He has testified during public hearings.
