Security measures for Freihofer’s Run released

ALBANY, N.Y.—Albany Police Department announced security measures for the May 31 Freihofer’s Run for Women 5K.

Following a successful 2014 Boston Marathon, efforts continue to produce an enjoyable 36th annual Freihofer’s Run for Women.

The following security measures will be in place for the 5K:

-Backpacks/coolers/duffle bags will not be permitted at the race venue.

-Anything brought onsite, including runners’ items for FRW bag-check, must be transported in a clear plastic bag for easy inspection.

-No animals, dogs or domestic pets (with the exception of service dogs) will be allowed on-site due to the presence of police dog patrols.

-Photo identification is required.

-All 5K participants should be on site by 8:45 a.m.

“The safety of race participants, spectators, volunteers and residents remains our top priority,” said Albany Police Chief Steve Krokoff.

The APD is asking race participants and spectators to report any suspicious activity to the event’s tips line at 518-300-0570.
