COEYMANS, N.Y. – A 24-year-old Coeymans Hollow man has been charged with murder in connection to the death of his mother.
Coeymans police say they received a 911 call from Brandon Biers at about 1 a.m. Sunday. When they arrived, officers found 50-year old Theresa Micheli dead.
Investigators conducted a search of 340 Biers Road in Coeymans Hollow, where the victim was found. Police Chief Gregory Darlington says there were no weapons involved.
Biers' defense attorney John Sweeney said he is confident his client has a strong self-defense case; commenting there is a long history there, but remaining tight lipped on further details.
Biers was arraigned on a second degree murder charge at 10 a.m. Sunday in Town of Coeymans court, where he entered a not guilty plea.
The cause of death is still unknown, and police say an autopsy will be scheduled.
Biers preliminary hearing is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Thursday.
