Sheriff: Three teens accused of stealing diesel fuel from town

ROOT, N.Y. – The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office say three people have been arrested, including a 15-year-old for allegedly stealing fuel.
According to authorities, for about two weeks deputies have been investigating a sting of diesel fuel larcenies from the Town of Root Highway Department. Employees of the Town of Root reported to authorities that their gas tanks appeared to be tampered with at the beginning of May.
Security cameras captured images of the subjects on multiple occasions.
On Wednesday night, a town employee used binoculars and observed two male subjects being dropped off on Mapletown Road by a vehicle. The car left the area and the two males were allegedly seem walking over to the fuel tanks.
The witness was updating the sheriff’s dispatch center that the vehicle returned to pick up the two male subjects several minutes later.
A Sheriff’s Deputy stopped the vehicle on Rappa Road a short time later. The suspects were allegedly found in possession of 15 gallons of stolen diesel fuel.
Authorities say the person driving the vehicle was identified as Brooke Bobar, 19. One of the male suspects was identified as Anthony Foote, 18. The third suspect’s name is not being released due to his age.
Bobar has been charged with one count of Petit Larceny. Foote and the juvenile were charged with five counts of Petit Larceny each.
All three suspects have been processed, issued appearance tickets, and released.
