CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. – Saratoga County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a man for allegedly stealing a weapon and carrying it onto school grounds.
A resident of the London Square Apartments contacted police around 2 p.m. May 20 to report suspicious activity. Deputies responded and found 18-year-old Jerald Bowden.
Police said Bowden was in possession of a .22 caliber pistol and ammunition. The investigation revealed that Bowden had stolen a safe which contained the pistol and ammunition. Bowden allegedly stole the safe from his own apartment, which he shares with adults.
The investigation further revealed that Bowden walked onto the Shenendehowa School District campus while in possession of the firearm prior to being located by police. The campus abuts the London Square Apartments.
Bowden was not in any of the school buildings while armed and no students were threated or endangered. Bowden is a student at Shenendehowa schools.
Bowden was arrested and charged with one count of Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree, one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon on School Grounds and one count of Unlawful Possession of Marijuana.
He was arraigned in the Clifton Town Park Court and remanded to the Saratoga County Correctional Facility in lieu of $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 bond.
