Erie Canal locks reopen after heavy rains

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. - The Erie Canal from Lock E-7 in Schenectady to Lock E-17  in Little Falls are open again.

The locks opened Wednesday afternoon.

E-26, E-30, and E-32, are also open again.

Heavy rains from the past week causing flooding that raised water levels throughout the waterways, forcing the state to close about half of the 524-mile canal system.
