East Greenbush residents plan protest against casino proposal

EAST GREENBUSH, N.Y. -  Some residents of East Greenbush are planning to protest a casino proposal.

Residents say they were "steamrolled" by the town board and they say the board is pushing ahead with plans for a casino without any public input.

The owners of the Saratoga Casino and Raceway are hoping to build a $300 million resort casino in the town. The plan would be to build a 100,000 square foot casino featuring world class gaming, dining, and entertainment, along with a hotel and high end retail.

Churchill Downs, Inc., which has partnered with the Saratoga Casino and Raceway presented a plan  to the public on Monday, saying the $300 million casino resort will create 1,700 permanent jobs and 1,700 construction jobs.

The protest will take place on Wednesday night.
