Whitehall Police Officer recognized for assisting with birth

WHITEHALL, N.Y. – A Whitehall Police Officer will receive a special citation bar after helping deliver a baby.

According to the police department, on Sunday around 4:30 a.m., Whitehall Police were dispatched to a home to assist a resident and EMS with a pregnancy related medical call.

The responding officer found the resident to be in full term labor, ready to give birth.

The father of the baby and Patrolman David Gebo assisted the mother while EMS personnel were on their way to the home. The baby was born without incident with the help of dispatch instructions.

Shortly after the birth, Skenesborough EMS arrived to the scene and took the family to the hospital.

Patrolman Gebo will be issued the first “stork” citation bar in the history of the Whitehall Police Department.

Whitehall Police also recognized Communications Supervisor Gosnell for providing the support and medical dispatch instructions to the family and Patrolman Gebo.
