Troy City Council looking to override mayor's veto

TROY, N.Y. – Troy City Council President is planning to meet with a lawyer to discuss overriding the mayor’s veto.

Council President Rodney Wiltshire will learn on Monday if it is possible for the council to override the mayor’s office, in issuing subpoenas to some city workers.

Last week, the council passed an ordinance to force the employees to testify about two recent controversial demolition projects. However, the mayor vetoed that ordinance on Friday.

Wiltshire hopes to find out Monday if the council can override the veto.

Some councilmembers allege the projects created public safety hazards.
