Schenectady fire displaces two families

SCHENECTADY, NY – Firefighters put out a blaze at 919 Norwood Ave. in the city this morning.

The call came in at 8:30 a.m. and officials say it was knocked down in 30 minutes.

The building is two-family, with an apartment upstairs and one below. Residents of the bottom apartment were home and got out, and resident of the top apartment were not home.

No one was hurt fighting the flames. The building suffered significant damage to the back and attic.

Officials said the cause appears to be accidental, but it is still under investigation.

The Red Cross assisted the nine residents of both apartments.
