ALBANY, N.Y. – A local soldier had a large reception as he returned to the Capital Region Tuesday.
It wasn't a celebrity getting off a plane, but it sure looked like it. Private First Class Nicholas Markessinis returned from Afghanistan to hugs and applause.
He says he first plans on having some of his mom’s home cooking while he’s back. His mother said she’s just thankful he’s home, and that she’s so proud of him.
Nicholas has one year left on his enlistment, but is giving serious thought to signing up for a few more years.
