PALENVILLE, N.Y. - State Police say a man saved a teen who became submerged in a creek.
On Sunday, State Police say they responded to a report of a water emergency at the Kaaterskill Creek.
Authorities say they determined that a 17-year-old from Catskill has been swimming in the creek with two friends when he wa spulled into deeper water by a current. The teen became submerged and unable to swim to shore.
However, police say Richard Larsen, 43, ran to the area and swam to save the teen. Larsen was able to pull the victim to safety.
The teen was taken to Columbia Memorial Hospital for treatment.
State Police credit Larsen with saving the teen's life.
