Guilderland man sentenced in burglary, arson case

ALBANY, N.Y. -- A Guilderland man was sentenced to 12 years in State Prison on Friday.

Matthew Woelfersheim, 37, was sentenced to two separate six year stints in state prison for two counts of Burglary on Friday, for a total of four to twelve years.

He was also sentenced four to twelve years for committing Arson in the third degree. On March 21, Woelfersheim pleaded guilty to two counts of Burglary in the third degree, and one count of Arson in the third degree.

Between July 25, 2012 and September 1, 2012, Woelfersheim unlawfully entered a business on West Street in Albany and stole over $1,000 while inside.Woelfersheim also unlawfully entered a business on Watervliet Avenue in Albany on August 28,2013 and August 31, 2013 and stole a sum of US Currency while inside on both dates.

Additionally, according to police, on September 30, 2013 on Carmen Road in Guilderland, Woelfersheim intentionally started a fire in an unoccupied building. The fire spread and caused further property damage to a neighbor’s garage and vehicle.
