Schenectady man hit by truck on Thruway still critical

ALBANY, N.Y -- A 26-year old Schenectady man was struck by a tractor trailer on the New York State Thruway Friday.

Police said the pedestrian was hit at 1:35 a.m. and the road was re-opened after 40 minutes.

State Police responded to the scene, and investigation showed that the man was in the roadway of the southbound lanes when he was struck by a tractor trailer.

The victim was transported to Albany Medical Center and is in critical condition.

The driver of the tractor trailer, a 28-year-old man from Maine, was not injured or charged. There were no disabled vehicles in reported in the area at the time of the incident.

State Police Investigators, Collision Reconstruction, and Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Units are continuing this ongoing investigation.
