Palace Theatre, National Grid to install 6,000 new LED energy efficient bulbs
ALBANY, N.Y.—The lights at the Palace Theatre will shine brighter as the venue completes an energy efficiency savings project.
More than 8,000 LED bulbs were put in the theatre as a result of the project, including 5,800 on the marquee and 2,500 in the public, stage, and backstage areas.
Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan joined executives from the Palace Theatre, National Grid, and RISE Engineering to complete the venue’s transition with the final installation of LED bulbs on the marquee.
The transition will save $31,500 in annual electric costs for the Palace Theatre.
The project was made possible by a $70,000 grant through National Grid’s energy efficiency initiative that provides incentives of up to 50 percent for qualified energy-efficiency improvements at customer’s facilities.
