COBLESKILL, N.Y. – A Schenectady man has been accused of assaulting a woman after he turned himself into police.

State Troopers in Cobleskill say they arrested Justin Simmons, 32, on May 3.

According to authorities, a verbal argument between Simmons and a woman turned physical. Simmons allegedly choked and punched the victim in the head while at a family party in the Town of Wright.

Simmons left the scene but turned himself into State Police the following day, say authorities.

Simmons has been charged with assault in the third degree and criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation. He will be back in court at a later date.
