ALBANY N.Y. - Flowers are blooming all over Albany’s Washington Park just in time for the annual Tulip Festival.

More than 100,000 tulips of150 different varieties were planted in the fall for the annual event.

Organizers have been prepping for the big event, which occurs this Saturday and Sunday, hoping the weather will hold out for the 80,000 plus people expected to attend.

This will be the 66th annual festival celebrating Albany's Dutch heritage. Every year, the festival features the Capital Region's up and coming local artists, as well as focus on sustainability, recycling with their Green Market, and plenty of tulips.

Despite the extreme winter Albany has had, the flowers are fine and ready for their big debut this weekend.

There will be events, food, and performances throughout the two-day festival, which always falls on Mother's Day weekend.

The event is free and open to the public.
