ALBANY, N.Y. – New York’s Court of Appeals said the names and benefits of retired teachers in public pension plans should be made public.
The state’s highest court ruled on the pension plans on Tuesday.
Justices say state law only exempts home addresses from public record, not the name of those who get benefits.
The case stems from a group’s attempt to get the names of state and city teachers who were getting benefits. However, that attempt was denied.
