Man arrested on active warrant, found in possession of handgun
ALBANY, N.Y. – An Albany man with an active warrant was taken into custody after a brief foot chase with Albany Police.
Ashad Cooper, 24, was approached by Albany Police officers on Sunday shortly before 5 p.m. because he was wanted on an active warrant. As officers attempted to place Cooper under arrest, he allegedly fled the area.
Albany Police say Cooper was quickly apprehended and taken into custody.
Upon his arrest, police say Cooper was found in possession of a loaded .25 caliber handgun, a quantity of crack cocaine and a small bag of marijuana.
Cooper was charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the second, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the fifth, Obstruction of Governmental Administration in the second, Assault in the second, Resisting Arrest, and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana. He was arraigned and remanded to the Albany County Jail.
