Benefit held for victim who lost belongings in deadly April fire

Posted:

LANSINGBURGH, N.Y. – A community came together to help a man, one month after a fire destroyed his home and his belongings.

The benefit was held at the Irish Rover in Troy on Sunday to help Thomas Reid.

Reid lost all of his belongings in the fire.

The same blaze on Fifth Avenue killed 19-year-old Vanessa Milligan, who was nine months pregnant at the time. The fire broke out just before midnight on April 3.

One of the bartenders at the Irish Rover said that all Reid had after the fire was the shirt on his back.

The investigation into the fire, which has been ruled a double homicide, is ongoing.
