Guilderland apartment fire displaces six, one pet dies

GUILDERLAND, N.Y. – There was a structure fire at a Guilderland apartment complex on Sunday morning.

According to Westmere Fire officials, the fire broke out shortly before 3 a.m. Sunday at the Regency Park Apartments. The fire was reported from a second floor apartment to State Police.

Officials say that it took 45 minutes for the fire to be completely extinguished.

Six residents have been displaced. Two of the residents are receiving assistance from the American Red Cross. 

While no one was injured, one pet perished in the fire. 

An investigation into the cause of the fire continues.

The Westmere Fire Department is reminding residents to check batteries in their smoke detectors to ensure they are working properly.

The Guilderland Fire Department assisted on the call.
